This is me in 1968 at the age of 9. I was already a hacker...but at that time it was model cars.  Don't laugh at my shirt. I think it's back in style.

Over the next few years I honed my model hacking skills.  In 1974 I entered my best one in Carl Casper's auto show.  I still have the certificate and the model, a 1949 Mercury.  It's amazing what you find in the attic.
